Comprehensive courses on privacy-enhancing technologies for developers, analysts, and decision-makers.
PETs are a family of mathematical and cryptographic techniques that make it possible to extract insights from sensitive data without ever exposing the data itself. They shift the question from "can we use this data?" to "how can we use it safely?"
A beginner-friendly introduction to Privacy-Enhancing Technologies for non-technical professionals, analysts, legal experts, and project managers.
Learn the mathematical foundations and practical applications of differential privacy, the gold standard for privacy-preserving data analysis.
Privacy isn't just good practice—it's increasingly required by law and expected by users.
Each course covers the content from multiple angles:
Structured video walkthroughs break down each concept clearly. Learn at your own pace and revisit any topic as often as you need.
Hands-on demos let you experiment with real PET algorithms directly in the browser — adjust parameters and see results in real time.
Short quizzes verify your understanding and reinforce key concepts before you move on to the next topic.
Each section includes links to relevant research papers, open-source tools, and further reading to dive deeper into particular topics.
Hi, I'm Curtis! I'm a privacy advocate and engineer with over 15 years of experience in software and data. I've worked on numerous privacy technology projects at organizations such as the United States Census Bureau, the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), and the United Nations PET Lab. I've also contributed code to multiple open-source PETs projects (such as the Differential Privacy Deployments Registry), I've spoken at privacy conferences and meetups, and I hold a Certified Information Privacy Technologist (CIPT) designation from the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP).
I now work as a consultant and freelance privacy and security engineer via my company Mitchell Technology Consulting, and I've created this platform to make these powerful privacy techniques accessible to everyone.
